Zalando has shut down its second-hand platform Circle, reports various media, including the news platform Twinkle. In 2019, Zalando’s Circle started with a pop-up in Berlin, where used clothes by users of the Zalando Wardrobe app were sold. This was later followed by an online platform called Zircle, which was only expanded last year to include the Danish and Swedish markets and celebrated the relaunch of the app.
Even then, a Zalando spokesman described Circle as an experiment. At that time, Zalando wanted to “learn how the offline sale of second-hand fashion works for Zalando” and find out whether there is potential for new customers in this area.
On the regular Zalando platform there is now also a second-hand section: “Pre-Owned”. Recently, this number has steadily increased.
