After numerous technical glitches, Ticketmaster has canceled advance sales for Taylor Swift’s tour, her first in half a decade. “Due to exceptionally high demand on the ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory, tomorrow’s public advance ticket sale for ‘Taylor Swift The Eras Tour’ has been cancelled,” the company wrote on Thursday (November 17). on twitter. It is not yet known whether Ticketmaster will only postpone general advance sales or whether all tickets are already sold out.

A record

According to the company, more than 3.5 million people had registered as “verified fans” in advance to get a seat on the 32-year-old’s US tour. On Tuesday (November 15) alone, more than two million tickets were sold – more than ever before in a single day. Nevertheless, hundreds of thousands were left with nothing but a look into the tube.

Empty hands and full pockets

Due to the “historically unprecedented demand” (quote from Ticketmaster), the site was temporarily unavailable, at least long waiting times were guaranteed. Some reported online queues of up to eight hours. Others complained that they had been thrown out of the queues on numerous occasions. For the majority, the purchase attempt ended in disappointment. Particularly cunning bag cutters wanted to turn their luck into money: on ticket exchanges, places for moon prices of up to 22,700 dollars are said to have been offered.

Taylor Swift shows her entire oeuvre

The Eras Tour will be Swift’s sixth tour. Since her last concert tour she has released four studio albums – probably one reason for the horrendous interest. The singer is planning “a journey through the musical eras” of her career, from 2006’s country record Taylor Swift to her pop concept album, Midnights, which was released just a month ago. A total of 52 performances are on the program from March to August.
