Traditionally, the mayor lights the Christmas tree on the Dobbeplas every year. A cozy moment after which a parade of lights takes place and the evening of candles starts.

The parade of lights will take place for the first time this year. Children will walk with self-made creations, such as lanterns, string lights on bicycles, themselves or other decorations during the route towards the Dorpsstraat.

On Tuesday, December 13, the Christmas lights above the water will be switched on at 7 p.m. Mayor Michel Bezuijen then presses the button to ignite the tree. The parade of lights moves to the Dorpsstraat where the evening of candles begins. The shopkeepers decorate the windows with lights and there are choirs and Charles Dickens figures that provide the Christmas atmosphere.
There are participation forms at various stalls with which you can vote for the most beautifully decorated shop window. You can also get free hot chocolate there. Candlelight evening lasts until 9 p.m.
