Handball EM: France wins top game

The Olympic champions from France won the top game in German group II at the European Handball Championship and are about to advance to the semi-finals.

The team around captain Estelle Nze Minko, on Tuesday (8:30 p.m.) the next opponent of the selection of the German Handball Federation (DHB), beat Montenegro in Skopje/North Macedonia 27:19 (12:9) and secured first place in the table in the main round.

The still undefeated French women lead 6-0 points ahead of Montenegro (4-2), Spain, the Netherlands (both 3-3), Germany and Romania (both 2-4). Spain and the Netherlands parted on Sunday 29:29 (17:15). Two teams get into the semi-finals, France only needs one point to be sure of reaching the semi-finals.

The DHB selection needs two wins in the final games against the French and Romania on Wednesday (3.30 p.m. / both Sportdeutschland.tv) in order to be able to progress. This requires blunders from the competition.
