9000 trees planted in Snellegem

A total of six species of trees are planted by volunteers. The young trees are the start of a new forest, but the number of trees that survive is still being reduced considerably.

This planting season, Natuurpunt will create six hectares of new forest. That is another step closer to the target of increasing our forest stock by 4,000 ha by 2024. An ambitious plan. Because there is still a lot of work to be done, especially in our province, West Flanders is the poorest province.

This month, Natuurpunt is organizing tree planting campaigns in Tielt and Zwevegem to eliminate the West Flemish backlog.
