Handball: Füchse Berlin back on the road to success

Füchse Berlin have extended their lead in the Handball Bundesliga.

In a hard-fought home game in front of 6296 spectators, coach Jaron Siewert’s team beat TSV Hannover-Burgdorf 32:30 (16:14) and are now leading the standings with 19:3 points.

Four days after the surprising 27:32 against TSV GWD Minden, the Berliners initially had a hard time against Lower Saxony. Former Berliner Marian Michalczik gave Lower Saxony the lead for the first time with three goals at 10:7 (16th minute). The foxes turned a 10:13 deficit (23 rd ) into a two-goal lead at the break.

Almost nine minutes before the final whistle, Hannover’s Bastian Roscheck saw the red card after a foul on Jacob Holm. Hans Lindberg converted the subsequent penalty to 28:25 (52nd), but the guests kept the game open until the final phase.

SC DHfK Leipzig celebrated a 25:24 (12:14) victory in the basement duel at HSG Wetzlar when Runar Sigtryggsson made his coaching debut. Matej Klima scored the acclaimed winning goal for the Saxons almost 20 seconds before the final siren.

A surprising 29:31 (15:13) conceded the favored SG Flensburg-Handewitt at promoted VfL Gummersbach. It was the third defeat of the season for the North Germans. HC Erlangen beat HSV Hamburg 35:29 (15:13), TBV Lemgo Lippe won its home game against Minden 30:27 (14:13).
