The embassy noted that such behavior is typical of the United States and recalled that Washington wanted to use the so-called “Powell test tube” as a pretext for invading Iraq.
The American scenario about Russia’s alleged preparation of an operation to invade Ukraine is not surprising, the Russian Embassy in Washington said in a statement, which the diplomatic mission published on Facebook.
“We are not surprised by the emergence of a new “creative” scenario, announced by the press secretaries of the State Department and the Pentagon on February 3, about Russia’s allegedly preparing an operation against Ukraine under a “foreign flag,” the embassy noted.
According to diplomats, such statements are characteristic of the United States, and the international community remembers “on the basis of what forgeries the Americans carried out military interventions around the world, including the well-known Powell test tube.”
The State Department did not prove the preparation of fake personnel about Ukraine by Moscow
Colin Powell (1937-2021), former US Secretary of State. Before ex-President George W. Bush ordered the entry of troops into Iraq in March 2003, Washington accused the head of state Saddam Hussein of producing weapons of mass destruction and having links with Al-Qaeda (a terrorist organization banned in Russia). ). In February 2003, a month before the invasion, Powell, speaking before the UN Security Council with the rationale for starting a war, cited data about Hussein’s supposed biological weapons factories as evidence. At the same time, he showed the Security Council a test tube with white powder, which he called a sample of weapons of mass destruction produced at these factories. Powell was later revealed to have been misinformed by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and that the vial was fake.
