Champions League: Dortmund with a moderate draw in Copenhagen

Status: 11/02/2022 10:55 p.m

Borussia Dortmund separated from FC Copenhagen with a draw at the end of the group stage in the Champions League. BVB had already qualified for the round of 16 before the game and on Wednesday (November 2nd, 2022) drew 1-1 (1-1) against a brave FC Copenhagen.

“It was a good group stage because we’re through”said defender Nico Schlotterbeck at DAZN. “If there’s nothing more at stake before the last game, you’ve done a lot right.”

Thorgan Hazard gave BVB the lead with the first big chance (23′) Copenhagen striker Hakón Haraldsson scored the equalizer (41′).

Copenhagen, who have not scored in five Champions League games this season, did everything they could to change that in the first few minutes. After a cross from Mohamed Daramy, Roony Bardagji headed BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel to a strong save (9′).

Shortly thereafter, Haraldsson’s goal posed fewer problems for Kobel (12′). Dortmund only came up with a first offensive action after almost 20 minutes – Donyell Malen’s shot went well over the box from an acute angle.

Dortmund takes the lead, Copenhagen is better

Shortly thereafter, BVB took the lead with the first shot on goal. A cross ball from Felix Passlack landed at Thorgan Hazard. The direct acceptance of the Belgian was still deflected untenable.

Cheered on by their own fans, the bottom of Group G seemed unimpressed and pushed for an equalizer. And again it was Kobel who prevented the long overdue goal against Viktor Claesson (29th). Shortly before the break, the hosts rewarded themselves for the strong first half. After winning the ball in midfield, Claesson put it back in the penalty area to Haraldsson, who had run with him. The Icelander didn’t give Kobel a chance this time.

Modeste and Malen get in each other’s way

At the beginning of the second half, Alexander Meyer replaced the strong Gregor Kobel in the Dortmund goal. Niklas Süle came on for Mats Hummels.

After a great attack, BVB gave up the lead early in the second half. Karim Adeyemi put the ball across the sixteen. After a misunderstanding between Malen and Anthony Modeste, the ball rolled past the goal (53′).

Brandt and Moukoko bring a breath of fresh air

BVB was now increasingly dominating the game and had the next big chance through Youssoufa Moukoko, who had just come on as a substitute. After a great save from Julian, who was also a substitute, Moukoko only hit the outer post from 20 meters (64th). Five minutes later, Adeyemi missed the 2-1 with a header after a corner (69th).

Shortly before the end, Copenhagen gave up the lead twice. First Meyer parried a shot from Ísak Johannesson, then Rasmus Falk fired just wide of the goal from eleven yards.
