Ralph Lauren and Epic Games, the video game developer behind Fornite, have teamed up to create a phygital “Polo Stadium” collection.
The “Polo Stadium” capsule was first conceived and designed for the digital world of video gaming before the designs were translated into a physical collection, the US fashion house announced on Monday. Both the physical and digital capsule variants are inspired by the aesthetic of Fortnite as well as the designer’s 1990s polo sports line. Ralph Lauren’s trademark “polo pony” was redesigned for the collaboration for the first time in the company’s history.
In early November, the first two outfits from the collaboration will be available for Fortnite players in the video game store. The physical garments will also be launched on the Ralph Lauren website in November.
To celebrate the day, Ralph Lauren and Epic Games are hosting several events. These events, such as a live stream on the Twitch platform, are intended to involve the gaming community in the launch. Ralph Lauren will also become the first brand of its caliber to co-host the Polo Stadium Cup, a global player tournament hosted on Fortnite. Tournament participants can win in-game prizes and early access to the digital collection.
