Most political parties look with suspicion at FC Groningen’s request to buy the Topsportzorgcentrum in the city. Council members are disappointed: it is a setback that the center, which was opened in 2018 with great fanfare and high expectations about the cross-pollination of top and (top) amateur sports, is under political discussion. This became clear last week during a meeting between Groningen councilors and Euroborg NV, the owner of the Topsportzorgcentrum. The sole shareholder of Euroborg NV is the Municipality of Groningen. In that position, the municipality has a big finger in the pie.
