Women’s Bundesliga team Turbine Potsdam has parted ways with coach Sebastian Middeke after their fifth defeat in a row.
The 38-year-old has to go after the 0: 5 in the home game against SC Freiburg on Sunday, as the bottom of the table announced. Middeke only took over as head coach at Turbine in the summer, succeeding Sofian Chahed.
An interim solution is expected to be in place before the winter break. Who that will be – the name of assistant coach Dirk Heinrich is in the room at least for the coming weekend – Turbine wants to announce in the next few days. Old coach Bernd Schröder is probably not available for this. “No, absolutely not,” said the 80-year-old, who won the German championship six times with Turbine. But he will help with the search for a coach, said Schröder on Monday.
Middeke was only able to get one point in the 1-1 draw in Bremen at the start of the season in six league games with the former champions. In addition, there is a difficult progression in the cup after penalties at the third division team Viktoria Berlin.
