A nice boost for AFC. The team from Amsterdam defeated Jong FC Volendam 5-1 this afternoon and took over the lead from De Treffers. That is the first time this season in the second division.
The start of AFC was disastrous, because Billy van Duijl made the opening goal for the visitors after five minutes. It was Raily Ignacio, who equalized not much later: 1-1. Melvin Platje and again Ignacio scored and thus provided a large margin for the team from Amsterdam: 3-1.

That score seemed to remain unchanged for a long time. That changed just before time when Joel Tillema and then Splinter de Mooij scored a goal: 5-1. With the win, AFC is the leader in the second division for the first time this season. Jong FC Volendam remains sixteenth.
The team from Amsterdam will play against Noordwijk next week, while the Volendam promises will play against De Treffers.
