Former US Open winner Dominic Thiem will make his comeback at the Masters in Indian Wells (March 10th to 20th) at the earliest.
The 28-year-old has had to sit out since June of last year due to a wrist injury. On Thursday, the Austrian also canceled the upcoming tournaments in South America.
Thiem actually wanted to take part in the current Cordoba Open, but pain in his hand stopped him. The former world number three has now slipped to 37th place due to his long forced break.
“It’s never easy to return to the competition after a seven-month break,” explained Thiem. “I will follow the doctor’s advice, take a few days off and start training again next week.”
