A resident (30) was fatally injured in an apartment fire on Wednesday evening around 10 p.m. in Berlin-Mariendorf.
Rescue workers rescued the man from the burning apartment on Didostrasse, resuscitated him and took him to the hospital, as a police spokesman said early Thursday morning, thereby confirming BZ information from the evening. However, he died shortly afterwards in the hospital.
The man’s home is uninhabitable. The house was evacuated as a precaution.
According to a fire department spokesman, a mattress in the bedroom caught fire, but the flames did not spread to other parts of the building.
Two other residents of the house also had to be rescued, but they were able to return to their apartments after the operation.
Further details about the cause of the fire were initially unclear.
