Hockey star Teemu Selänne is founding a new hockey league.

The Finnish NHL legend is one of the founding members of the new junior league to be established on the west coast of the USA.

According to The Hockey News the new puck league aims to fill a void on the puck map in the California area. At the moment, promising local hockey juniors have to head to get lessons elsewhere in an important development phase.

In addition to Selänte, there are also other puck influencers behind the new puck league. Another famous woodman in the background is a fellow Hall of Famer To Luc Robitaille.

The league has received the support of NHL clubs in the region. The Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks and Vegas Golden Knights will benefit if the puck culture in their market area develops.

Selänne previously tried to save his own junior club, Helsinki Jokerei. The Russian-owned club will continue to sail badly with the wind.
