Signature India – new in Heiligensee

By Mary-Lou Künzel

I recently passed a sign saying “Reopening Signature India” on my way to work. As a big fan of Indian cuisine, I had to try the new restaurant.

Friday night, 8pm, most tables are occupied. We are lucky and get another place. Just sitting down, we are greeted warmly and given the menu. There is a large selection, but the prices are a bit too high. But we’ll give it a chance.

I choose a passion fruit spritzer (3.90 euros), bhatura (3.90 euros) – also known as balloon bread – and paneer tikka safrani (17.90 euros). About fifteen minutes later it’s served and I’m convinced.

A pan with pieces of cream cheese fried in saffron, peppers, onions and a typical Indian sauce and rice. It’s simply delicious, the cheese is creamy but firm to the bite, and the vegetables have a subtle flavor. I’ll be well fed.

Ultimately, I can say that the price-performance ratio is reasonable. In the meantime, I’m convinced that the prices are allowed to rise (of course within limits) if the restaurant can remain open.

As a farewell, we get a mango schnapps on the house and a “Goodbye” from the boss. We’ll definitely come again!
