The most interesting game of the day
West Ham has been playing so well in its last matches that its position at the bottom of the league table seems almost unreal. Also, the results of the team’s last couple of matches (loss and draw) do not tell the full truth about the Hammers’ striking ability.
Last away, West Ham tormented Liverpool until the very end and, of course, partly thanks to the (unsuccessful) penalty kick, they even won the match’s goalscoring comparison. Before this, West Ham lost to an unfortunate 1-1 draw in Southampton after clearly dominating both the field game and the match in all statistics (e.g. goal posts 25-10, corners 14-4, successful passes 391-234 and expected goal 1.7-0.5).
At home, before those two away games, West Ham deservedly beat Fulham 3–1 and Wolves 2–0. In the early season, attacking and especially scoring goals was West Ham’s Achilles heel. The team has still scored the third fewest goals in the Premier League (9/11 in the match). On the other hand, only 12 goals have been scored as a counterbalance; fifth least.
Of the crew playing on the injury front, the midfield is currently sidelined with shoulder injuries Lucas Paqueta (shouldn’t be a particularly bad injury) and a defenseman who missed the entire season Nayef Aguerd. The striker has recovered to the bench Maxwell Cornet defender Craig Dawson.
If West Ham’s league ranking is “wrong” (too low) considering the team’s potential and momentum, then the same can be said about Bournemouth in the other direction. In any case, Bournemouth will not be in 13th place at the end of the season – a decline is expected. Bournemouth’s charming six-match unbeaten streak between September and early October was last snapped at home against Southampton.
Bournemouth wasn’t bad in that match either, but always being at the bottom is not enough to achieve success despite good self-confidence. In the six matches of the unbeaten streak, Bournemouth did not beat the expected goal of the match in one of them, so in the world of reality, the day of defeat was just waiting to come.
Even in the evening’s struggle, Bournemouth should be a really big underdog in terms of power relations. Bournemouth come into the match with almost ideal lineup starting points; only the long-term patient is gone David Brooks and defender Lloyd Kelly.
The best betting tip of the day
In terms of betting, Veikkaus did a “favor” with the West Ham–Bournemouth match on Monday morning by dropping the 1.56 top odds of West Ham, which he maintained for almost a week, to the level of 1.51. At 1.56, West Ham would have been a clear overmultiplier case.
Such low favorite coefficients are rarely, however, anything delicious to play in football. Now there is no need to continue thinking until the line of West Ham; it is still the best long-term search of the day even with its 1.51 coefficient, but not a case worthy of the tag.
Odds drops on the mornings of game days have become a fairly common practice for Veikkaus for those destinations, where it has for a long time already offered the highest odds on the market for major league matches. Here too, the risk limits have hardly been met, and the market hasn’t exactly had a multiplier movement either, so it’s probably just a matter of practice.
