Boy (2) died after a motocross track accident | Inland

The accident happened when a 19-year-old motorcycle racer landed on a jump next to the track. The boy took the biggest blow and was seriously injured. His father also suffered serious injuries. The motorcyclist was also taken to hospital by ambulance.

The police said on Sunday that they are still investigating and are unable to make any statements about the circumstances of the accident.

The two-year-old victim and his 35-year-old father come from the Frisian municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel. The motocross rider comes from the municipality of De Fryske Marren.

Chairman Henk Hulshoff of Motorclub Marum tells RTV Noord that the driver lost control of his motorcycle after several jumps in succession. ,,His motorcycle ended up in front of the tunnel where the father and his son came out at that moment. It is not a place where people stand and watch. You walk by alone.”

The club is very devastated by the tragic accident and will keep the track closed for the rest of the season.
