Stefanie von Berge has reached the final at the European Boxing Championships in Budva/Montenegro and is fighting for gold.
The 21-year-old from Cologne defeated the Serbian Jenela Janicijevic 4:1 in the Olympic weight class up to 66 kilograms. In the final on Saturday, the medical student meets the Polish Aneta Rygielska. The Vice European Champion narrowly defeated the Turkish Olympic Champion and World Champion Busenaz Surmeneli 3:2 in the second semi-final.
Technical victory achieved
Von Berge clearly dominated her rival in the first lap thanks to her range advantages. In the second round, the Serbian attacked the 1.80 meter tall German and landed a few hits, so that the German was counted. As a technically better boxer, the U22 European champion of this year survived the critical moments and deservedly won.
The other four German participants had each lost their first European Championship fight and were eliminated.
