The EWE Baskets Oldenburg have confirmed their strong early form in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and celebrated their third win in the fourth game of the season.
Coach Pedro Calles’ team defeated ratiopharm Ulm, who was still penultimate in the table, with 81:73 (41:36) on Friday and stayed in sixth place. For Ulm it was the sixth defeat in the seventh competitive game of the young season.
Oldenburg, who had so far only remained without a win against champions Alba Berlin, pulled away after a weak first quarter – driven by their US guards DeWayne Russell (18 points) and Trey Drechsel (17 points).
Ulm’s Devin Robinson was the top scorer of the game with 22 points, but could not prevent the next bankruptcy of the European Cup participant.
