Aldi Nord will close many branches earlier from November 2022. The discount giant announced this on Twitter.

According to its own statements, Aldi Nord is the first food retailer in Germany to adjust the opening times of “numerous markets”. The aim is to make an “active contribution to saving energy”.

Markets participating in the promotion will close at 8pm from November 1st this year. Aldi makes it clear: “This initially applies to the winter season 2022/2023.” However, Aldi did not write which branches are affected.

In times of skyrocketing energy prices, other companies are also tightening their pants.

▶ Individual Saturn stores and Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof department stores have shut down the escalators. Two Ikea branches in Saarland close earlier.

▶ The Asklepios clinics unplug electrical devices in unoccupied patient rooms instead of putting them on standby. ECE (shopping center) turns off fountains.

▶ According to a report by BILD, the railway has switched off the light in its tower. The Otto Group sends many employees to the home office. Buildings are heated to just 15 degrees.

▶ Volkswagen goes to 17 degrees in the production halls, but the employees are given warmer clothing. The logistician Jungheinrich distributes fleece jackets.
