Wine magazine the red wine of the year 2022 chosen is Cono Sur 20 Barrels Pinot Noir 2019, which costs 19.99 euros. The jury rated the wine’s aroma as elegant and multi-faceted. According to the jury, the medium-bodied taste accurately reproduces the aromas of the fragrance.
The taste of the wine has spiciness, herbs, as well as shades of red forest berries. The jury recommends the wine especially to accompany grilled or fried game birds and rich light meat dishes.
Viinilehti evaluates the wine as a good purchase that is more than worth its price.
The competition also awarded silver and bronze.
The winning trio’s wines represent wines from different styles. Start
Argentinian Domaine Bousquet Reserve Organic Malbec 2020 took silver. Avgvstvs Cabernet Franc 2019 from Spain got the third best rating. Wine can be found in Alko’s order selection.
They chose the red wine of the year Juha Berglund and Antti Rinta-Huumo, who blindly tasted almost 400 different red wines, which can be found in Alko’s standard or order selection and which the wine importers had entered for the competition. Wines with a maximum price of around 30 euros participated in the competition. 34 wines survived the qualifying tastings to the final tasting.
Earlier this year, Viinilehti also selected the sparkling wine and champagne of the year, the white wine of the year and the rose wine of the year.
