Surprise in the trial against the musician Gil Ofarim: On Monday, the Leipzig Regional Court canceled the dates initially planned until the end of November.
The sixth criminal chamber justified this, among other things, with a short-term so-called adhesion application by the accessory prosecutor. The process was originally supposed to start next Monday in Leipzig (ref.: 6 KLs 607 Js 56884/21).
Gil Ofarim is to answer on suspicion of false accusation and defamation. The musician, son of the well-known Israeli singer Abi Ofarim (1937-2018), had accused a Leipzig hotel employee of making anti-Semitic statements last year. The investigations against the employee were discontinued.
At the end of March, the Leipzig public prosecutor brought charges against the musician.
