Outsiders has won the “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” tournament ESL Challenger Rotterdam. In the final of the tournament taking place as part of the Dreamhack gaming fair, the Russian team defeated Ence 2-0 (16:8; 16:14) in the final and is going into the upcoming major tournament in Rio in good shape.
Both finalists had already played each other in the group stage, where Ence had emerged victorious. The finals saw them meet again after Outsiders and Ence eliminated Mouz and Eternal Fire in the semifinals.
Outsiders takes a close second card
Outsiders turned out to be stronger there, although the second map was closer than expected. Because Ence almost saved himself in extra time despite a deficit that seemed unassailable before Outsiders secured the title in the last round of regulation time.
The Outsiders players are actually signed to Virtus.pro. However, the ESL accuses the Russian organization of having connections to the Kremlin. Since the beginning of the war of aggression in Ukraine, the team has therefore competed under a new name, with which it has now achieved its first tournament victory.
Mouz misses the finals
With Mouz, a German organization also started at the tournament. The team made it out of the group stage with ease, forcing Outsiders into a third map in the semifinals, but Mouz blew a big lead there. Barely two months after Dorian “xertioN” Berman was promoted from the Academy team, the pre-Major games are still important practice for Mouz.
