The Poll: a gender reveal party is exaggerated

More and more parents-to-be are throwing a gender reveal party. The craze, whereby the gender of the unborn child is announced with balloons, rockets or a cake, has come over from America.

American blogger Jenna Karvunidis has launched the gender reveal party. In a video she showed how she revealed the gender of her baby to her family, and it became a real hit.

Sometimes things go wrong

Some parents go very far to announce the gender of their unborn child in an original way. In Brazil, a couple painted a waterfall bright blue, but residents of the nearby town of Tangará da Serra are not too happy about the event, reports HLN.be. They fear that the water is now polluted. There was also a lot of criticism on social media. Someone responded: “Congratulations, you are becoming parents of a wonderful ecological crime.”

And not everyone is charmed by the new trend, as can be read on Twitter, first a baby shower, then a gender reveal and finally also a baby shower. People also think that the emphasis should not be placed so much on the gender of the child. Because who cares if you have a boy or a girl? What do you think of this new craze? Would you like to participate? Or is it a bit much of a good thing?
