OKAN students learn Dutch through music

Tina Reynaert, teacher CAZ – musician: “By making and composing music, by listening to music and talking about it, we want the students to practice Dutch through music. It is also important that at the end of the year they stand on a stage. We want to make a play in which music and drama are combined.”

Aster Verriest, Dutch teacher: “I am a teacher and have some music experience. But without her ideas and also the loop stations and the material that we can use, I am nowhere. This is certainly a very great added value.”

Lessons have only just started, but the students are already more confident and dare to say something in front of the microphone. They also hope to warm up students to go to the music school.
