Bird flu detected in Waddinxveen

Bird flu was diagnosed at a broiler farm in Waddinxveen (province of South Holland). It is probably a highly pathogenic variant. To prevent the virus from spreading, the approximately 80,000 broilers at the location are culled by the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA). There are no other companies within the 1 and 3 kilometer zone of the company that is now infected. There is 1 poultry farm in the 10 kilometer zone around the infected farm. The transport ban applies immediately in this area.
