Örjan Nyland (32) is RB Leipzig’s backup goalkeeper of choice to fill up the team between the posts after Péter Gulácsi’s (32) serious injury. Managing director Oliver Mintzlaff said on Saturday on “Sky” in relation to the Norwegian: “I can say that the name is correct and that we are in final talks. We are forced to act. We will do that. I think we’ll come to a conclusion in the next 24, 48 hours.”
Former Ingolstadt Nyland has recently filled in for short-term engagements at Norwich City, Bournemouth and Reading FC and has been without a club since the end of last season. In Leipzig he should be number two behind Janis Blaswich (31).
Gulacsi will probably be out for the rest of the season after a cruciate ligament rupture. The Hungarian international goalkeeper will be operated on in Innsbruck on Saturday. “Pete really hurts. He’s our captain, he’s been an absolute bank in Leipzig for years,” said RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose after Gulácsi’s injury.
