FC Bayern: Rummenigge wants to outsource women

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, former CEO of FC Bayern, has called for the women’s Bundesliga to be spun off for marketing reasons.

“We need independent management. The DFB takes too long to make decisions. The women’s Bundesliga must be outsourced for marketing,” said the longtime boss of the German record champions in an interview with the newspapers of the “Funke Mediengruppe”.

Rummenigge sees great opportunities in the women’s field. “At the moment there is only potential for growth in the girls’ and women’s divisions. We will have to change. Football was a total macho sport,” said the 67-year-old, who sees the “Premier League a bit ahead again”: “All the Premier League -Clubs also have a women’s team, they invested a lot of money. England won the European Championship.”

Rummenigge therefore takes responsibility for the big Bundesliga clubs. “I know that Borussia Dortmund is working its way up from the lower leagues. A club like BVB has to get involved in the women’s Bundesliga. We need the big names,” said the 1980 European champion.
