The 560 meter long fence at Columbiadamm has disappeared.
The old airport Tempelhof frees itself a bit!
A 560 meter long piece of fence at Columbiadamm was dismantled. The section between the so-called head building East and the gatehouse is affected. According to Tempelhof Projekt GmbH, the area should have a more open effect and be more accessible.
The three meter high and seven kilometer long fence was once intended to keep unauthorized persons out of the 355 hectare airport area.
“Despite the opening through the removal of the fence, the site remains a company site with appropriate safety precautions,” says the company. Tempelhofer Feld itself and the military security area around the radar tower remain fenced off.
You can still only get onto the field through the known entrances.
