Hanover (AP) – Former national soccer player Thomas Brdaric has great success as a coach in Albania. The former Bundesliga professional led the provincial club KF Vllaznia from the city of Shkodra to victory in the cup and runner-up.
“I thought it was a great opportunity and challenge,” the 46-year-old told the German press agency. “When you bring a team out of nowhere into European qualification, that makes you proud.”
Brdaric’s goal is still the Bundesliga or 2nd Bundesliga, where he himself played for Bayer Leverkusen, Hannover 96 or VfL Wolfsburg. But he also feels very comfortable in Albania. “I don’t want to go into the line of pity either,” said the former striker. “People who have a goal in mind cannot be stopped, they go other ways.”
