Good acute care must be accessible to everyone in the Netherlands under all circumstances. Minister Ernst Kuipers of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) wants to achieve this with the policy agenda ‘Future-proof acute care’. Because the demand for emergency care is growing while (acute) care employees are scarce, change is needed to provide everyone with high-quality acute care in the right place. The policy agenda builds on, among other things, the agreements in the Integrated Care Agreement (IZA) and focuses on three main points: quality and accessibility, care coordination and cooperation in the region.
