A reintroduction of compulsory military service, which the top man of the Belgian army is arguing for today, is not planned in our country. “The Netherlands has no plans to activate compulsory attendance, not even because of the current geopolitical situation,” says Renske Piet, spokesperson for State Secretary Van der Maat, in a response to this site. The military union VBM also thinks that compulsory voting is not feasible with the current (financial) resources.
