Round 9 KKDDirk Kuyt seemed to have the leak at ADO Den Haag, but his team lost tonight for the fifth time in nine games. The number 17 of the Kitchen Champion Division went into their own stadium with 1-3 down against Jong PSV.
ADO booked a nice 1-2 victory at PEC Zwolle two weeks ago, but was unable to take that good feeling with you after the international break. Young PSV took the lead halfway through the first half through a hard strike from Mohamed Nassoh with the left, although ADO goalkeeper Hugo Wentges tapped the ball in through the crossbar. Two goals from defender Jenson Seelt shortly before half-time even made it 0-3 in the first half for the talented team of Adil Ramzi, who took over from Ruud van Nistelrooij in the PSV promises last summer.
Four minutes after the break, defender Tyrese Asante made it 1-3. A minute later, right winger Xander Severina shot with the left almost 2-3 in the far corner, but the connecting goal did not come and ADO went down for the fifth time this season.
ADO will also have to do without Chris van der Waarden from tomorrow. Dirk Kuyt’s assistant leaves for Vitesse, where he is reunited with the new trainer Phillip Cocu. The supporters of ADO saw the returned one tonight Ricardo Kishnan came in, but he couldn’t bring the tension back in the last ten minutes. “The public really wants it. Earlier this season I was critical of them when they were negative towards the team, but they now stood behind the team. I understand the emotions and I also understand that people are calling for my departure. Nice is different, but I’m glad they stayed behind the team. We as a staff have to work hard to turn this around,” Kuyt said to ESPN afterwards.
Heracles has best papers for first period title
Heracles Almelo has the best papers to win the first period title next Friday and with it the ticket for the play-offs to secure promotion in any case, if John Lammers’ team does not finish in the first two clubs. Heracles recorded a hard-fought 1-2 victory at FC Den Bosch. Joey Koonings made the 1-0 against his old club after 17 minutes, but in the 28th minute Emil Hansson equalized on behalf of Heracles. The 24-year-old Swede already has five goals and six assists after nine games. The hero of the evening at Heracles, however, was Abdenego Nankishi, as the 20-year-old striker (rented from Werder Bremen) scored the winning goal in the 77th minute.
PEC Zwolle leaves points against Young Ajax
PEC Zwolle started the evening as a shared leader, but is now third. Jasper Schendelaar received a red card in the twelfth minute when he pushed the breakthrough Kristian Rasmussen hard to the ground when he came thirty meters from his goal. With ten men, PEC Zwolle took the lead in the 62nd minute. Sixty-time Bosnian international Haris Medunjanin (37) beautifully shot in from about 25 meters with his refined left leg. Medunjanin came over from FC Cincinnati in the summer, having previously worked with Schreuder at Philadelphia Union in the MLS. PEC Zwolle seemed to take the three points with ten men, but in the 80th minute Kristian Hlynsson made the 1-1. Denmark-born Iceland youth international curled the ball beautifully into the far corner, a shot to which substitute Mike Hauptmeijer had no answer. In the 94th minute, PEC had a good chance to make it 2-1, but Davy van den Berg’s shot hit the post.
Number three FC Eindhoven is still unbeaten, but drew for the fourth time. Jasper Dahlhaus made the 1-0 for Rob Penders’ team after an hour, but in the 95th minute Samuele Longo took care of the 1-1 on behalf of FC Dordrecht.
It was also a painful evening for two other Brabant clubs. Willem II led 0-2 in Maastricht after 18 minutes, but Rein van Helden made the 3-2 for MVV in the 95th minute. NAC Breda lost 1-2 to VVV-Venlo in front of its own audience.
Finally home win for De Graafschap
De Graafschap booked its first home win since January 21, 2021. The team of trainer Adrie Poldervaart, who was already under fire after a bad start in Doetinchem, saw his team beat Jong AZ 2-0. Charlison Benschop and Siem de Jong (his first of the season) scored the goals at De Vijverberg, where the public could finally go home happily after more than a year and a half. De Graafschap climbed from nineteenth to fifteenth place thanks to the welcome victory.
The last games in the first period are next Friday. Heracles will then take on De Graafschap at home, PEC Zwolle will visit FC Dordrecht. FC Eindhoven will visit ADO Den Haag, while Willem II will play the Brabant derby against FC Den Bosch in Tilburg.
