Children’s day center De Vuurtoren and jenaplan school Kristalla from Emmen, together with the Drenthe College, received a so-called Golden Prokkel from Minister Carola Schouten. It is a prize for initiatives in which encounters take place between people with and without intellectual disabilities.
The initiative from Emmen is known as the Prokkelweek. In that week, students of Kristalla go to the De Vuurtoren daycare center to do activities there with the children. All of this is supervised by students from Drenthe College.
The Prokkelweek in Emmen is one of the two winners of the Gouden Prokkel. A project from Tiel was also awarded. The jury decided to choose them both because of the link with education and with young people.
