The cabinet has decided to extend the compensation scheme for entrepreneurs for the use of the eHerkenning login method with effect from 1 October 2022 for two years. In this way, the cabinet ensures that the costs of this private login method continue to be reimbursed until a free public alternative login method becomes available. State Secretary van Rij of Fiscality and Tax Authorities and State Secretary van Huffelen of Kingdom Relations and Digitization announced this today.

Entrepreneurs who want to fill in their tax return via the My Tax and Customs Administration portal portal must log in with eHerkenning (level 3), an electronic means of authentication for businesses. The drug can be purchased by entrepreneurs from various private suppliers. Entrepreneurs can request a reimbursement of €24.20 (including VAT) per year for the Tax Authorities specific eHerkenning tool. This amount is based on the lowest price in the market for the purchase of the electronic means of authentication. The reimbursement can be requested from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.

Some entrepreneurs cannot have an eHerkenning tool because the company or organization cannot be included in the Trade Register or the Probas Register. If they cannot make use of another portal, they can only file their tax return via commercial tax return software or a tax service provider. The compensation scheme has also been extended for these entrepreneurs. Reimbursement of necessary costs for tax return software or a tax service provider can be requested from the tax authorities.

The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations is working on a new login method for filing tax returns free of charge. This new login method comes alongside eHerkenning, which will continue to exist.
