Ping Pong Alkmaar has found a solution to the floor problem. The Olympic floor, which was glued to the wooden floor, will be removed. The original wooden floor will be cleaned several times before being approved. Table tennis association NTTB has no objection to this solution.
During the first Eredivisie match, the match against Smash from Hattem was stopped after one game, because the surface was not sufficient. The floor moved because it was attached to the wooden floor with double-sided tape. The referee ruled out the floor, which was used during the 2012 London Olympics, during the match.
Then they worked with all their might to get the wooden floor ready to play. All glue residue had to be removed, but the arbitration again rejected the floor. They found it ‘too dangerous’ to play on. One of the visiting team’s players also objected, causing the game to be stopped.

The debut in the Eredivisie was therefore a major anticlimax for Ping Pong Alkmaar. Last weekend the North Hollanders played their first game and won it 2-5 at Wessem in Limburg. It is still unknown when the abandoned match against Hattem will be played.
