Dozens of extra places for a meeting about wolf in Diever

The municipality of Westerveld and the province of Drenthe have expanded the number of places for the meeting about wolves. Initially there was room for seventy interested parties, but due to great interest that number has been expanded to about one hundred and fifty to one hundred and sixty.

The first ninety people who were already on a waiting list can still come to the town hall in Diever next Monday. The meeting has been moved to the public hall. A second meeting was considered last week, but the two governments have therefore chosen to invite more people to Monday evening.

The meeting can also be followed online that evening via the website of the province. “For the people who attend the meeting online, there is the possibility to ask their questions online,” the province said.

The meeting is organized after the municipality sent a fire letter to the province. In Westerveld, there have been recent reports of wolf attacks. “This leads to unrest and sadness and anger among the animal keepers in our municipality,” the council said earlier. The province will provide text and explanation next Monday evening.

Last Friday evening the RTV Drenthe program De Staat van Drenthe was dominated by the wolf. Watch it back below.
