US police arrest man who plotted “Las Vegas-style” mass shooting | Abroad

According to the police of Chico, in the American state of California, the arrested man also threatened to kill several police officers. The suspect was arrested by SWAT agents at a Super 8 motel in Chico after detectives found evidence on the internet about his very concrete plans.

The evidence included information that the suspect had “made criminal death threats against specific individuals and law enforcement officers, and was preparing to commit a Las Vegas-style mass shooting with a clear deadline,” the Chico police statement said.

After his arrest, the suspect threatened to kill more officers and their families, and beat an officer with a table during the interrogation process, the police statement said.

The man is being held without bail in the Butte County Jail. Chico is a city of 98,000 inhabitants, about 280 km north of San Francisco.
