It’s been a long time since the last film in the “Beverly Hills Cop” series starring Eddie Murphy was released in cinemas in 1994, and almost 20 years later Netflix announced a sequel in August. Now more details about “Beverly Hills Cop – Axel Foley” have become known.

The fact that Eddie Murphy is resuming his role as Detective Axel Foley can already be seen in the name of the fourth part. But familiar faces can also be seen in other roles, as Netflix announced. Judge Reinhold, who starred in the three previous films as Det. Sgt. Billy Rosewood, is playing again. Also returning are John Ashton (Det. Sgt. John Taggart), Paul Reiser (Det. Jeffrey Friedman) and Bronson Pinchot (Serge).

Netflix announced in August that Taylour Paige and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will also star in the new film. The Australian Mark Molloy, who has previously been best known for his commercials, will be directing. Molloy jumped in for original directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who wanted to direct Batgirl instead: the film Warner didn’t want to release even though it was nearly finished.

The “Beverly Hills Cop” (in Germany as “Beverly Hill Cop – I solve the case in any case”) was released in cinemas in 1984, followed by Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) and Beverly Hills Cop III (1994 ).
