David Muñoz has once again been crowned the best chef in the world after having reached the number 1 of the world Top 100 of the international list The Best Chef Awards. Not only that: she has achieved two special awards. To make matters worse, she has received the awards at home, in Madrid, because the gala was held tonight at the Palacio de Cibeles. He is the king of the kitchen, succeeding Joan Roca (twice), Björn Frantzén and René Redzepi.
The organization of the contest justifies that it has repeated as number one for “its very personal cuisine, unpredictable and installed in excellence that flees from mimicry despite assimilating disparate influences and inspirations, from cooking currents to its own dreamlike universe that impregnates each visit with emotion of a Russian roulette and turns it into a true ‘XOw’. The motto is justified: vanguard or die”.
Of the 12 special prizes, Muñoz has won a couple. One, the best chef according to her colleagues, and another called The Best Chef City Gourmet Award. Antonio Bachour, Ana Roš, Anne-Sophie Pic, Natsuko Shoij, Josh Niland, Jessica Rosval, Riccardo Camanini, Franco Pepe, Pierre Koffmann and Andoni Luis Aduriz (best scientific chef) have been the other winners of special prizes.
Last year, Muñoz also received the Innovation Award from the French list ‘La Liste’ and his face appeared on newsstands because it was on the cover of the Spanish edition of ‘Forbes’ magazine, which pointed to him as one of the 100 most creative Spaniards in the business world.
In addition to Munoz, Joan Roca appears on the list of The Best Chef Awards (The cellar of Can Roca)which is third, Andoni Luis Aduriz (Mugaritz), fifth, and the trio of Enjoy (Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas), seventh, among the 10 best.

The annual ranking of the world’s best chefs is result of the opinion and votes of 350 people; the 100 chefs that appear in the current ‘ranking’, the 100 new candidates chosen for the occasion and a selection of 150 experts (journalists, critics, gastronomes, photographers…) who are previously responsible, in turn, for pointing out these renewed candidates .
