The Brabant football weekend is characterized by violence surrounding three different football matches. At the match FC Den Bosch against TOP Oss, RKC Waalwijk against SC Cambuur and FC Eindhoven against Roda JC things got out of hand. 22 arrests and several injured was the end result of this stormy weekend.
FC Den Bosch – TOP Oss
After the match FC Den Bosch against TOP Oss on Saturday, riots broke out in the stadium. Two officers were injured, one sustained minor head injuries, the other his knee. Police confirmed on Sunday that officers were indeed injured in the riots and that they are also filing a report.
It was previously known that a security guard and steward were taken to hospital with serious injuries. During the riots, stones and torches were thrown at the riot police. A total of eleven arrests were made that night. Seven suspects are still in custody.
RKC Waalwijk – SC Cambuur
Young people from The Hague, presumably supporters of ADO Den Haag, traveled to Waalwijk to fight with supporters of RKC Waalwijk. That club had played against SC Cambuur on Saturday. According to social media sources, an ADO supporter stabbed an RKC fan in the arm with a knife. The police are investigating a fight, but do not want to confirm that it concerns ADO fans.
They do say that eleven young people between 16 and 23 years old from The Hague and the surrounding area have been arrested. Those young people were arrested on Saturday evening for public violence in the Wederikstraat in Waalwijk. The police received a report on Saturday evening about a fight between two groups around a quarter past seven. It involved about 80 people.
FC Eindhoven – Roda JC
The police have not yet announced anything about the fight after the FC Eindhoven match against Roda JC from Kerkrade. However, there are many images on social media of a fierce fight next to the Jan Louwers Stadium in Eindhoven. There is no word yet on any injuries.
