Russia was not invited to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral

The Russian diplomat disapproves of Britain’s decision not to invite Russia to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

Maria Zaharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has disapproved of Britain’s decision not to invite Russian representatives to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. PDO

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zaharova said in a statement on Thursday that the British authorities’ decision not to invite Russia to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral is “deeply immoral”. The news agency reported about it TASS.

“The UK Foreign Office has informed the Russian Embassy in London of its decision not to invite Russia, including senior embassy officials, to mourning ceremonies following the death of Queen Elizabeth II,” the statement said.

– We believe that Britain’s attempt to use a national tragedy that touched millions as a punishment for us in the days of mourning is deeply immoral, added Zaharova.

Zaharova said Russia would nevertheless send its heartfelt condolences to the British people for their great loss.

According to the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Britain said that the reason for not being invited was a special military operation in Ukraine.

This is, in Zaharova’s view, “particularly cynical”, as during the Second World War, the then-Princess Elizabeth was part of the women’s branch of the British Army, according to the diplomat, when the British Army was “fighting the Nazis and their Ukrainian partners Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevychia against.”

– And now the British elite is on their side. However, Russia still respects the memory of all veterans who participated in the victory, the Russian diplomat added.
