Croatia head coach Damir Mulaomerovic put a lot of effort into the defeat suffered by Finland on Sunday.

Susigengi advanced to the quarterfinals of the European Basketball Championships when it defeated Croatia 94–86. Finland’s brightest star was Lauri Markkanen, who scored no fewer than 43 points in the match.

Markkanen’s performance made Mulaomerovic confused.

– We couldn’t stop Markkas, he played a fantastic game. Markkanen’s quality decided, Mulaomerivic told the Croatian For Novi list magazine.

Mulaomerivic also took a stand on his own coach.

– I probably won’t continue as a coach after this, but we tried our best. We weren’t psychologically ready. They work better as a team.

In the last match of the initial group, Croatia was suspected of cheating in order to meet Finland in the quarterfinals. Croatia’s Bojan Bogdanovic missed his free throw in the final moments of the final game against Ukraine, after which Ukraine scored another basket.

Croatia won the match by five points, which meant that the country fell to third place behind Greece and Ukraine in the initial group standings and thus had Susijeng against them.

Yle asked Mulaomerovic about it after the defeat against Suomi, who answered firmly back and denied the prank.

– Don’t listen to such speculation. It’s complete bullshit. It would have been difficult for us against Poland as well, Mulaomerovic answered To Yle.

Susigengi will face Spain in the quarterfinals. The match will be played on Tuesday from 18:15.
