New companies in Brabant can be reconnected to the electricity grid from December. That reports network administrator Tennet. No new companies have been connected since the beginning of June because the maximum capacity had been reached.
This applies to both the purchase of electricity and the generation. The rapid increase in the number of heat pumps, charging stations, new companies and the increasing sustainability of industry ensured that the capacity of the electricity grid could not keep up with the explosively increasing demand.
Lower consumption at peak times
Grid operators Tennet and Enexis asked existing companies to consume less power at peak times for a fee. This request has provided sufficient space on the power network to connect companies again from December. Both for the consumption of power and for the return of generated power.
In order to increase the capacity of the power grid, Tennet will invest approximately two billion euros in Brabant and Limburg over the next ten years. The problems are just as great in our neighboring province.
Electricity Highway
For example, the existing 380kV connection (electricity highway) between Geertruidenberg and Maasbracht will be strengthened to transport more electricity. In Brabant, work continues on new high-voltage stations in Halsteren, Boxmeer and Tilburg, among others.
