Printemps opens first US store in New York

Printemps opens its first store in the United States. For this, the French luxury department store chose New York’s number one Wall Street.

“As the next chapter in the brand transformation,” the new store in New York’s Financial District will “have a different scale, take a local approach and focus on an enhanced omnichannel and seamless experience,” Printemps said on Wednesday. The opening is planned for spring 2024.

“The US is an integral part of our international development strategy and opening in New York offers high visibility and growth potential,” said Jean-Marc Bellaiche, CEO of Printemps Groupe. “We believe we can offer something unique, both for the dedicated local clientele and for the heavy flow of tourists that the city receives.”

The store is located in a listed building, which creates parallels with the Parisian flagship, as it is also located in a historic building. In New York, the store offers a sales area of 54,365 square meters spread over two floors. The two metropolises are also to be brought together in the facility. Interior designer Laura Gonzalez, who oversees the project, wants to give the store a touch of “Paris meets New York”.

“New York is also a strategic e-commerce market for luxury, fashion, home and beauty,” said Bellaiche. “We plan to introduce a new format of experiential retail in this rapidly changing and demanding market.”

Laura Lendrum becomes General Manager for Printemps America

With the push into the USA, the luxury retailer also appoints a person responsible for this market. Laura Lendrum takes over the management of Printemps America. She is familiar with the market and brings experience from leadership positions at Saint Laurent, Gucci and Ralph Lauren.

“Laura’s experience in luxury, fashion, digital and hospitality is a perfect match for us,” said the Printemps boss.
