Model Anna Hiltrop receives prize for commitment to “green” fashion

Model Anna Hiltrop has been honored for her commitment to more ecological awareness when dealing with clothing. Born in Düsseldorf, she received a “Vienna Award” as “Model Icon of the Year” in Vienna on Wednesday evening. According to the self-definition, the prizes awarded in several categories are the “most important fashion award in Austria”. “Sustainable fashion is exciting, glamorous – and above all essential for the future of our planet,” said Hiltrop.

“The topic has been on my mind for a long time. In the lockdown phases of the pandemic, I then dealt with it more intensively and recognized the fatal consequences of thoughtless fashion consumption, »said the 28-year-old of the German Press Agency before the award ceremony.

Among other things, she was the face of Neonyt, a trade fair for sustainable fashion, and is an ambassador for the “RhineCleanUp” garbage collection campaign. She already knows the latter from her childhood: “My father and I picked up what others had thrown away on the beach.”

In her modeling jobs, she makes sure that the brands have an ecological approach. In the meantime, she is also booked as a speaker on the subject of “sustainable fashion”, Hiltrop said. She deepened her knowledge in online seminars at two universities. (dpa)
