After defeat against Zagreb: FC Chelsea separates from Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel is no longer the manager of Chelsea FC. The club announced this on Wednesday (September 7th, 2022).

Tuchel had coached Chelsea since January 2021 – it was initially a very successful collaboration. Just a few months after Tuchel took office, the club won the Champions League. Tuchel was later named FIFA World Coach of the Year.

Tuchel’s tenure also saw him win the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

This season, however, things have not gone well for the London club. Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League after six matches and have lost to teams like Leeds United and Southampton FC.

Tuche’s search for a solution ends abruptly

After Chelsea lost to outsider Dinamo Zagreb at the start of the new Champions League season on Tuesday evening (September 6th, 2022), Tuchel said his team was missing everything. “We’re clearly not where we need to be and where we can be. So it’s up to me, it’s up to us, we have to find solutions.”

However, Tuchel no longer has the time to look for solutions. Chelsea announced the split in a statement on their own website. It says that Tuchel will “take a place in the history of the club”.
