Von Dutch Originals x Kafa & Efendi “ESCAPE FROM WORLD”
Von Dutch Originals is collaborating for the first time with the German artist and musician duo Yung Kafa and Kücük Efendi (YKKE) and presents an extraordinary partnership entitled “ESCAPE VON WELT”. The collab includes a capsule collection and a three-part short animated series that satisfies the omnipresent need for freedom, individuality and autonomy.
The creative duo manages to combine different musical influences across genres, from 80s synths to contemporary trap. Yung Kafa and Kücük Efendi always appear as faceless anime characters, which not only encourage the viewer to put themselves in the characters’ shoes, but also allow access to a completely new world.
A collaboration with YKKE enables Von Dutch Originals, as a brand that has had a huge impact on pop culture in the 2000s, to continue to tell its own narrative and revitalize the values of freedom, individuality and creativity.
YKKE grew up in the 2000s, a decade heavily influenced by video games, animated series and the fashion influences of brands like Von Dutch. This shared foundation prompted the two collaborators to tell a story that takes place on a distant planet whose population is still stylistically stuck in the 2000s of planet Earth. Within three short episodes, three different stories are told of young people whose life feels like a dead end. It’s about escaping social constraints and searching for one’s own identity.
The collection combines symbolism and color worlds from the mini series with the DNA of the iconic Von Dutch Originals logo. With a surrealism- and anime-inspired aesthetic, the nine-piece collection deepens the connection between the collective desire for 2000’s showmanship and the melancholy of youth.
The collection consists of a hoodie, three shirts, an oversized track jacket and track pants made of cotton terry, as well as a beanie and a trucker cap.
The characters from the mini series can be found on every single part of the collection.
