A fierce fire raged in a forest area on the Dutmellapad in Son on Friday night. It concerned an area of thirty by sixty meters.
The fire was discovered around a quarter past twelve. Multiple units of fire brigade rushed to fight the fire. Police found pieces of fireworks and are investigating whether these were the cause of the forest fire.

Forest fires have been raging in the province for the past few days. Thursday night it was still a hit in a nature reserve on the Schietbaanlaan in Best. That fire was probably caused by tea lights. Scouting Lierop used it during a nightly scavenger hunt through the woods. Presumably to mark the route. It appears that something went wrong, a police spokesperson said Friday afternoon.
The discovery of the tea lights after the fire sparked outrage. Because of the drought that nature is struggling with, there has been a warning for a long time about fire in nature reserves.
Deurne
On Friday it was also announced that the wildfire that raged on Thursday in a forest area near Deurne was probably set on fire. At least three fires were discovered in the nature reserve between Deurne and Helmond. The fire brigade had two fires under control quickly, but the third proved more persistent. After the fire was under control, the fire brigade was still busy extinguishing the fire for quite some time.
